Joe Walsh fans have put forth a new petition to have the Eagles’ guitarist inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist. Walsh has been eligible for solo induction since 1998 – the same year that he was inducted as part of the Eagles. In addition to an impassioned plea to the Rock Hall to have Walsh join the Hall’s ranks, the petition lists in detail Walsh’s musical, historical, and charitable importance in rock, with quotes by such friends and fans as Pete Townshend, Eric Clapton, and Jimmy Page. So far, the petition has snagged almost 1,000 of its goal of 5,000 signatures.

Oh my gosh! I just happened to see this now. I am the one who created the petition for Joe last year around April. To be honest, I can’t really explain why or what for that matter compelled me to start something like this. This was my first time doing anything of the sort for anyone, especially someone like Joe. And I only became a fan of his a little over three years ago. Anyways, I wanted to give you an update, I have hit 3,500 signatures as of today, September 3, 2019. I’ve also been corresponding with someone from The Hall of Fame through their Facebook messenger sending them updates of the petition to them and also sending hard copies with a cover letter that I also wrote as well as the signatures and the petition. Through messenger all I seem to get is the run around with them. They have suggested that we use the “voice your choice kiosk” at the Museum to enter Joe’s name in. But what if you can’t get there because you either can’t afford to travel or live in another part of the world? And you don’t know anyone that can do it for You? Trying to convince them, that this petition is the only way that people who can’t get there are able to have their voices heard. One day I get a Thank You for sending them the link of the petition with the signatures and another day where they say we can’t do anything with it. I understand that Joe had been inducted back in 1996 with The Eagles and around that same time, he became eligible as a SOLO artist. He has never really been awarded or recognized solely as an INDIVIDUAL even though people talk about his solo career. And if you have really taken a look at what I have put together, Joe has done so much both alone and what he did with The James Gang, his solo band, Barnstorm and of course what he brought to The Eagles. He has also had such a huge influence on Jimmy Page, Pete Townshend and so many others. He’s also produced a number of albums for other artists. One in particular was Dan Fogelberg’s album, Souvenirs. I also realize that there are other artists that rightfully and deservedly belong there as well but all I can say is that something made me do this for him and I can’t give up…. I just can’t but I also can’t do it alone. Something has got to give with them not just with the petition I created but for other petitions that have been created for other bands/artists.
